How I Got Here: Hailey Pinto, Account Executive
Keep up with Hailey on LinkedIn!
What did you think you were going to be in elementary school or high school?
I don’t think I ever wanted to be just one thing. Growing up with Hannah Montana, my first few visions were to be a typical popstar and model. Then, I remember being uniquely tied to the idea of becoming a lyricist since it encapsulated everything I loved as a teen: writing and music. I always felt like I had so many thoughts I needed to write down.
It’s fitting how I ended up pursuing a job that, to this day, allows me to channel my creativity strategically and proactively.
Did you study PR? If so, why? If not, what did you study?
I (technically) did not. Funny story: I actually switched my major three times during college: first to business management, then to fashion marketing and merchandising, before finally landing on general marketing.
I didn’t have much exposure to PR throughout my marketing course load, even though it tends to fall under the same umbrella. As I searched for remote internship opportunities that would fit in with my class schedule and early graduation timeline, I ended up pursuing a few different PR internships, stemming from my own interest!
The creative merge of strategy and writing won me over (I was also a writing minor). Most days, PR feels like the best of both worlds!
How did you make your way to Carve?
While scrolling for new job opportunities before class, I saw an Account Coordinator position open with Carve. I took a deeper dive into the company to see if it would be a match. The way Carve’s company culture radiated across its website and socials drew me in, especially paired with some of the impressive work the team had accomplished.
After staying in touch with Carve during my last few months of college, I stepped into my first role as Account Coordinator which was the absolute perfect post-grad opportunity for me.
What do you do today at Carve?
I work as a publicist at Carve across both enterprise and consumer teams to help our clients stand out as industry leaders within the media landscape.
What is the coolest project you've ever worked on - anywhere?
The first project I supported at Carve was by far one of the coolest. We executed a media-favorite activation around Michael Jordan’s premier memorabilia in the streets of Chicago for our sports and entertainment collectibles client. It was a priceless moment to experience as the newest team member working behind the scenes to share the media attention we were receiving with the client.
And who doesn’t love Michael Jordan? He’s the GOAT for a reason…
What is the career accomplishment you're most proud of?
Taking my PR experience off the screen and into real life at my first ever media event.
It can (sometimes) feel easier interacting with the media about our clients' products and services online, but getting to lead in-person conversations with some of the reporters I had been talking to for months was a true career high.
Plus, the event being a Carve exclusive media experience gave this moment a special touch, as we were able to see our hard work pay off from start to finish.
What is your superpower?
I’ve always found manifesting the good in every situation to be a superpower.
Also, being brave enough to chase after uncertainty instead of running away from it. As my mom says, “What you resist, will persist!”
What would you love to learn more about?
The way our bodies work. As a Grey’s Anatomy binge-watcher, I’ve always been intrigued with the knowns and unknowns of our being – especially the brain (how am I thinking and typing this at the same time?).
If you were asked to teach someone how to do something in 5 minutes, what would it be?
How to play the iconic four-note riff in Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” I took guitar lessons during high school, and those power chords are the easiest to memorize and always a crowd-pleaser.
